The session was opened by Grigory Majarovsky, the General director. He proposed jewellers to discuss problems and asked questions the representatives of authoritative bodies. Among the representatives there were: the Head of the Department on the governmental regulation of operations with precious metals and stones– Vasiliy Melnik, Deputy Head of the Department – Vladislav Trayan, The director of State Gemology Centre of Ukraine – Vladimir Dragomiretskiy.
As Vasiliy Melnik noticed, the situation in the branch would not change essentially after Ukraine’s entering WTO. The most important thing is the adoption of a new normative base which would correspond to the changing situation and put the barrier to the stream of contraband goods.
Vladislav Trayan told about new statutory acts, which introduced the new report system, audit system at branch enterprises of the industry. Vladimir Ivanov represented the dynamics of jeweller exhibitions development in 2007 and 2008 years.
The total growth of three exhibitions in 2008 is 22%, in comparison with the spring exhibition “Jeweller Expo Ukraine 2007”, in comparison with the autumn exhibition in 2007 it is 7%.
The share of jewellery producers was 30-40 % in the total number of participants in 2007. The share of jewellery producers in the spring exhibitions of 2008 is 55%.We expect 23,000-25,000 registered visitors by the results of three exhibitions. We have every reason to believe that the quantity of visitors will be more. The prospective growth will be 10-15% in comparison with the spring exhibition.
